Michael & Janie brown

Michael and Janie Brown in Milan, Italy

Chiesa Evangelica Riformata ‘Filadelfia’ in Milan, Italy is pastored by Rev. Michael Brown, who is called and overseen by Escondido URC. They presently have about 50 members, and meet twice every Lord’s Day for worship and catechism classes. You can read Rev. Brown’s updates on the Reformation Italy website.

Milan is the New York City of Italy. It is one of world’s leaders in fashion, design, education, biotechnology, commerce, finance, and entertainment. Milan is also the world’s seventh most expensive city. With low wages, high unemployment, and astronomical taxes, most Milanese people live with a sense of anxiety and hopelessness. The city is rife with drugs, prostitution, and corruption. These characteristics make Milan a spiritually dark place to live but also provide a marvelous opportunity for making disciples of Jesus Christ. With 8.2 million inhabitants in the metropolitan area, the city is host to almost no gospel witness. As a missionary, Pastor Mike serves Chiesa Riformata Filadelfia by:

  • Preaching Christ in expository sermons of the Word of God every Sunday morning.

  • Administering the sacraments.

  • Teaching the Heidelberg Catechism and the basics of the Christian faith during our catechism service.

  • Teaching a Bible study on Wednesday evenings.

  • Leading a monthly men’s study group;.

  • Providing pastoral care to the congregation.

  • Writing articles and books in Italian.

  • Creating evangelistic and teaching videos in Italian.

  • Doing evangelism in the community.

  • 100% of his ministry is done in the Italian language.

Andrea & Cristina Ferrari

Andrea and Cristina Ferrari in Perugia, Italy

On behalf of all the members of the Chiesa Riformata of Perugia, pastor Andrea expresses his gratitude for your faithful prayers and support.

Perugia is a University City with 200,000 people. There are fewer than 25 Protestant churches with about 1,000 church members. As for the church of Rome, during the last two decades, the number of “regular” churchgoers has dropped by more than a quarter. The phenomenon of “believing without belonging” is rampant and as for those who call themselves “Catholic,” their number is decreasing rapidly.

Rev. Andrea Ferrari is called and overseen by Christ URC in Santee, CA. You can read Rev. Ferrari’s updates on the Reformation Italy website.

Vincenzo and Judit Coluccia in Lecce, Italy

Pietra Vivente (Living Stones) Church is the first confessional Reformed and Presbyterian church plant in Southern Italy.

Although Italy was the birthplace of the Renaissance, the Belpaese became the graveyard of the Reformation. During that time, the Roman Inquisition wiped out any real hope for an Italian Reformation. In Italy, only 1% of the population belongs to a Protestant church, and of them, less than 150 believers are members of Reformed and Presbyterian churches. Therefore, today around 60 million of Italians are unable to hear God’s Word because there are not enough gospel-centered Christians and churches around them.

Vincenzo was born and raised in a Roman Catholic family in Lecce, Southern Italy. He was 25 when Christ saved him. Over the years the ministerial call was visible upon his life. So in 2016, after working ten years as an engineer, he quit his job to enroll in the Master of Divinity program at Westminster Seminary California. After completing his studies in June 2019, he continued to serve as a pastoral intern at New Life Presbyterian Church in Escondido (CA). Vincenzo has been called by MTW to plant a Presbyterian church in Lecce, and he is an ordained Teaching Elder of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) at South Coast Presbytery.

Mihai & Lidia Corcea

Mihai & Lidia Corcea in Bucharest, Romania

Evangelical Reformed Church of Bucharest is a URCNA foreign mission located in Bucharest, a city of 2 million people and the capital of Romania. The religious affiliation of people in Bucharest is 97% Eastern Orthodox, 1% Evangelical, 1% Atheist and 1% other religions. Even though the overwhelming majority of people identify themselves as Christians, their Christianity is often just nominal.

After graduating the M.Div. program of Westminster Seminary California in May 2016 and passing his candidacy exam in Classis Southwest US, Mihai was ordained by Christ URC and sent back to his home country Romania to plant a confessional Reformed church in Bucharest.

The core group for this church plant was started in 2011 by a handful of Christians who became Reformed by reading Reformed books and meeting Reformed people from other countries. Following Rev. Corcea’s return to Bucharest in August 2016, a small church plant was formed under the oversight of Christ URC Santee. The small congregation worships in a rented meeting place downtown Bucharest.

Pray for the church plant in Bucharest that the Lord would bless the ministry of word and sacrament and work in the hearts of the people who hear the gospel from the Reformed pulpit in Bucharest. And pray for his wife and children: Lidia, David Albert, and Anastasia Evelina. For more information about this work please contact Rev. Mihai Corcea at:

Jonathan, Marian & Calvin Cady

Jonathan and Marian Cady in Asia

Our mission is to proclaim the good news of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. We work to plant healthy, Gospel-preaching churches; raise biblically trained church leaders; and disciple believers. Jonathan’s weekly duties include preaching the gospel, discipling and encouraging fellow pastors, and counseling church members. Marian works as a technical writer in the private sector and is engaged in marketplace ministry. Jonathan and Marian also minister together in one-on-one evangelism and evangelism training.

Pray that God would send us like-minded families and coworkers to help us in our labors. We need help and support in the work. Pray for the Lord to bless the preaching of his Word.  Pray for the Lord to open hearts to receive Christ. Pray for bold witness to friends in our neighborhood. Pray for safety and security.

Simon and Deana Jooste in Cape Town, South Africa

Rev. Dr. Simon Jooste pastors the Reformed Church of Southern Suburbs (RCSS) located in Cape Town. In September 2024, RCSS formally established ecumenical relations with Classis South-West U.S. of the United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA). Simon received his theological education from Westminster Seminary, CA,

Our vision for RCSS is for an English-medium Reformed ministry that attracts unchurched and under-churched people from diverse ethnic, racial and generational backgrounds. In keeping with the best of the Reformed tradition, we strive to be a church that functions in accordance with God’s Word. This means being a church where:

  • Christ, his Gospel and his church are front and center in the Christian life.

  • God serves us through the preaching of his Word and the administration of the sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper).

  • Our response in worship is governed by Scripture and is one of reverence and awe.

  • Sinners are saved and Christians are built up in their faith, so that we might in turn love each other and our neighbour.

  • Family worship is prized and the Christian faith is actively handed down to the next generation.

  • Home visitation and active pastoral care are integral to the life of the church.

Rev. Jooste and Mr. Alex Hewitson are in the process of forming a denomination of churches in South Africa, named the African Reformed Churches. There is an increasing Western influence of postmodern identity politics, alongside remnants of the legacy of church-endorsed Apartheid. Contemporary African Christianity, for the most part, has re-read Scripture, creed, and confession through worldly lenses that compromise apostolic, catholic, and Reformed theology, piety, and practice. There is a need for a new confessionally Reformed denomination that will seek to renew the Reformed witness in Africa.

Reb. brian zegers

Word of Life Ministry in Greater Toronto, Canada

Rev. Brian Zegers is a URCNA pastor in Bowmanville, ON, Canada. He and others began the Word of Life Ministry. with a desire to share the love of Jesus Christ in the greater Toronto Area.

They do this by organizing and hosting a variety of events that create opportunities for Muslims and Christians to get to know one another, develop friendships, and deepen those friendships through fellowship with one another. This allows them to get to know more about each other's beliefs, appreciate the uniqueness of each other's ethnic and cultural backgrounds, and better understand each other. We must remember that people are not projects. People, be they believers or unbelievers, are all equally image-bearers of God. Every person we ever meet or interact with is a person who will live forever in one of two eternal destinies. The people we know have souls that will live for all eternity, in either heaven or hell. As long as God gives us the opportunity, we need to persevere in our witness by patiently loving the people God places on our path and by patiently speaking truth into the hearts of those who have an ear to hear.

Word and Deed - Malawi Projects

Word & Deed partners with Chibulika Orphan Care, Lizulu Orphan Care Centre, Logos Ministries, Neighbour Mission Orphan Care, New Life Girls' Home and True Friends Orphan Care in Malawi.

Christian Education Program: This program works in the Central Church of Africa, Presbyterian (CCAP) churches under the leadership of Logos Ministries, to educate youth about biblical lifestyles. The root of the AIDS problem in Africa is behavioral and needs to be addressed using the instructive principles of God’s Word. Those who are involved in teaching children from Sunday School through catechism age are trained to instruct youth in biblical principles relating to marriage and family relationships, HIV/AIDS, church and society, leadership and doctrine.

Logos Ministries: The winds of change are affecting almost every sector of public and private life in Malawi. Traditional practices and beliefs are being questioned and abandoned in many places. The wholesale importation of western videos has completely changed the morality and values of an entire generation of the young people in Malawi. The goal of Logos Ministries is to create an understanding of the major issues of modernity as they affect the people of Malawi, and to explore some of the ways in which God wants His people to approach these problems and situations.

After working closely with the Church of Central Africa, Presbyterian (CCAP; a large denomination of over 1 million members) for a number of years on the orphan sponsorship program, Word & Deed was given the opportunity to provide CCAP pastors, elders and leaders with the practical and doctrinal tools they need to better serve their congregations (which often number in the thousands). To that end, and in partnership with CCAP, Word & Deed offers training seminars to church leaders to equip men in CCAP churches to lead and instruct their flocks. Multiple seminars are held each month, and are conducted by visiting pastors and teachers, as well as by Logos staff.

Orphan Care Programs: Word & Deed first became involved in Malawi to take over the orphan program begun by Dr. Timothy & Dorothy Monsma. Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. There are an estimated one million orphans in Malawi, mostly as a result of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Word & Deed currently partners with the Church of Central Africa, Presbyterian (CCAP) in meeting the basic physical and spiritual needs of several thousand orphans in the village based orphan care projects listed below. The orphan care centers serve as a base where children and their caregivers can go to receive biblical instruction as well as assistance with food, education, clothing, agricultural inputs, and other necessities.

  • Chibulika Orphan Care

  • Neighbour Mission Orphan Care (Salima)

  • True Friends Orphan Care

  • Lizulu Orphan Care Centre
