New Adult Sunday School Class: March 26, 2017

You are invited to join us on Sunday, March 26 at 9:00 a.m. when Rev. Lenzner will begin his new adult Sunday school class entitled:  Family Life.

Do you ever think that your home life and family relationships must be abnormal? Do you feel like a dysfunctional husband, wife, son, daughter or single person? It’s possible that these things may be true. But you might be surprised to discover that most of our family lives in this church are all in the same boat! We’re all struggling and fumbling through life and our family relationships in one way or another. Come join the Adult Sunday School class to receive a reminder that the power of the Gospel holds all of us together as Christian families and singles. In this Family Life series, Rev. Lenzner will lead us through an overview of what the Scriptures have to say about Christian home life and singleness. We’ll talk about marriage, parenting, sibling relationships, singleness, abuse, and more.

Adult Sunday School: March 19, 2017

Join us this Sunday, March 19, for a special class on Church Unity taught by Rev. Brad Lenzner.

Did you know that URCNA is actively pursuing church unity with churches all around North America and the world? Come join Rev. Lenzner during the Adult Sunday school hour for a class entitled, “Our Work of Church Unity.”  In this class we will discuss the URCNA’s work of ecumenical relations and church unity with other federations and denominations. We’ll learn about the difference between spiritual and institutional unity. We’ll also study the URCNA’s work within the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council (NAPARC) and our three phases of church unity.

Academy Class: February 17 (CANCELLED)

The Academy is cancelled for this Friday, February 17 due to weather.

Join us again on Friday, February 24 at 7:30 p.m. for our next Academy class.  We will have a viewing and discussion of Allen Guelzo's Teaching Company Course, The American Mind

Our text for this series will be Hollinger and Capper, The American Intellectual Tradition.  Be sure to get a used copy!  They are much less expensive!

Congregational Meeting: February 12, 2017

Sunday, February 12 we will hold our annual congregational meeting in the sanctuary at 9:00 a.m.  All church members should make plans to be in attendance as we elect new officers, approve our annual budget and discuss church business.  Joshua Parsons, John Skocilic, Jeff Sikkema and Jeff Tyler have been nominated to the office of elder. They will replace Eric Akiyoshi, Paul Barr, Steve Irons, Ralph Kolbush and Ed Silva who are rotating off council. We have also nominated Dr. Tony Bae, Andrew Encinas, David Gill, James Guan and Chet Roher to the office of deacon. They will replace Jack Daley, Henry Hernandez and George Perez who are rotating off council. If you are not acquainted with these men we encourage you to take the opportunity to speak with them and get to know them.

Adult Sunday School: January 8, 2017

Sunday, January 8, Rev. Chris Coleman will begin a new class entitled The Gospel in Ecclesiastes. What is the point of life? Why does it so often seem, in this life, that "good people" suffer and "bad people" prosper? Why does my life, sometimes, feel meaningless? These are some of the questions that the author of the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes asks and seeks to answer. Please join us at 9:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall as we seek to see the Gospel in Ecclesiastes. NOTE: in preparation for this class, please read through Ecclesiastes beforehand and come prepared with any questions you might have.

A Community Mourns With A Stranger

One of our church members, Diane Reiman was touched by the small community of strangers in Evansville Wyoming who came together to honor her brother Stephen, a Navy Veteran, who had died.  A woman she’d never met, the town coroner (Connie Jacobson) had arranged for the funeral for her brother with Military honors.  Among the mourners were the nurses who had cared for Stephen when he died.

Diane said, “A special place in my heart goes out to those nurses in the ICU who came to this service to tell me they were there for him when he died”.

This funeral drew national attention as hundreds of mourners filled the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery chapel to pay their respects for Stephen and mourn with Diane.  Please see the link for the NBC Nightly News below.

While it is unusual that we post fundraising requests on our church website we are making an exception for this unusual circumstance.

James Onuska is one of our church members at Christ Reformed church.

Six days ago James Onuska, one of our church members was hit by a car on his way to the bus, suffered a severe head injury and multiple broken bones. James will be having surgery again tomorrow (Thursday) to repair a rib fracture which will help his breathing and again next week to repair some leg injuries. He will be needing special rehab for his memory and just mobility in general. If you are able please donate to James' fund. Please also keep this dear brother in prayer as he faces a long road of recovery.
